Orphans
for Christ in Africa (OCA) is a non sectarian,
non-denominational childcare, Non Governmental
Organization (NGO) whose purpose is to provide holistic care
and support to HIV/AIDS orphans, vulnerable disadvantaged
children and youth, widows and their communities in Uganda. We
seek to provide education, shelter, feeding programs,
clothing, healthcare, life skills and vocational training,
HIV/AIDS care and support, spiritual nourishment and
educational sponsorships to orphans, vulnerable disadvantaged
children aged 3-17 years, and disadvantaged youth 18-24 years,
both boys and girls. To realize this goal, OCA
seeks to work in partnership with communities, churches, other
NGOs/CBOs, families and individuals to implement child-focused,
community oriented programs and projects that benefit entire
communities.
This year
marks the 2nd anniversary of Orphans for Christ in Africa
(OCA) as an NGO, working with HIV/AIDS orphans, vulnerable
disadvantaged children and youth, and their communities in
Uganda. More than 3 million children have been orphaned by
HIV/AIDS in this third world country and this number is
increasing every day. Despite these tragedies, the children
left behind need our support to enable them have a life of
dignity and realize their full potential. At the same time,
we recognize that HIV/AIDS is entirely preventable through
education and awareness.
We
have recently partnered with
Orphanages
for Africa (OFA).
OFA
is a nonprofit USA humanitarian corporation helping Africans
who care for orphans in orphanages and home-based care.

Computer
Skills Training

The OCA
Computer Skills Training Program for disadvantaged children
and youth has started a smaller computer and skills program in
November in the house where the computers were being
stored. We still urgently need funding for renting an appropriate premise
where the project will be fully set up in Kampala (and also in Tororo) and for purchasing
additional supplies, furniture and initial internet connection and
installation. The beneficiaries of this projects are orphans
and disadvantaged youth who have no financial support at this
time. With US $100, you can sponsor an
orphan/disadvantaged youth for this program. Please
read more and find out how you can help!

To
date, Uganda
remains one of the sub-Saharan African countries most affected
by the AIDS Pandemic. With a staggering 3 million AIDS
orphans with many new cases of HIV infection, nearly everyone
in our country and city knows someone who has been affected by
AIDS in some way — at home, work, school or place of worship
